A scene from the Lord of The Rings
Helms Deep is about to be overrun by Saruman's Army. A too small band of soldiers are preparing to defend it, and their king, Theoden, is preparing for battle.
With a sigh he said "how did it come to this, where are the soldiers, the horses running true the prairies. Where are the proud riders, sitting upright bearing the banner of Rohan. Where did they go ...."
He was mourning the decline of his kingdom, a once great country had succumbed during his rule...
the parallelization ...
I once joined a great company with very much respect, cocky individuals, well paid (?????), rich legacy during years of existence... And now the same I can say like him ... How did it come to this ... like fighting a losing war. We won small battle here and small battle there, but we still losing ground ...
Again ... how did it come to this ...
At the end, Theoden rides out with Aragorn and his Knights and cleave a way through the uruk hai. He was then saved by Mithrandir (Gandalf) and Erkenbrand (I am referring to the book version here)... One excerpts from the book :
" I will not be taken like a badger in a trap"
Hopefully we are not like that badger, hopefully somehow we can ride out and meet the challenge...
Forth Eorlingas (Go forward ... sons of Eorl)
